What we're hearing
Need to know:

Egypt's newly appointed cabinet met for the first time on Monday, as protesters continued to demand the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak. And a Google executive who went missing in Egypt more than a week ago was released from the custody of security forces.

One of Russia's most wanted men, Chechen warlord Doku Umarov, has said he ordered the deadly bomb attack last month on a Moscow airport.

Want to know:

High wheat prices have already been cited as a reason for the unrest in Tunisia and Egypt. Now the U.N. food organization is warning that a severe drought threatened the wheat crop in China and was even resulting in shortages of drinking water. And it's becoming urgent to understand whether the plight of the honey bee risks further exhausting our already thin margin of food global security.

Dull but important:

Calling the trial "a farce," Charles Taylor's lawyer stormed out of court Tuesday after judges refused to accept a written summary of the former Liberian president's defense at the end of his landmark war crimes case.

Just because:

By offering clean needles and aggressively treating those who may be infected with HIV, Vancouver is offering proof that an idea that was once controversial actually works: Widespread treatment, while expensive, protects the whole community from HIV, not just individuals. See photos.

Decades after iconic Argentine leader Juan Peron's death, his personal belongings are housed not in a museum, but in a Buenos Aires apartment. It belongs to a former Peron aide who now wants to auction off the 14,000 items online.

Wacky:

Poles are buying a new board game called "Kolejka" (The Queue), which recreates the tedious shopping experience of communist-era Poland. Players compete to be the first to buy the items on their shopping list. They send out family members to line up outside different shops for the authentic 1980s products, but neighborhood shops are often empty and players must queue without knowing which store will soon get a delivery.
