What we're hearing
Need to know:

Gaddafi resumed attacks on Brega, a strategic oil port in the east of Libya on Thursday, a day after rebels had repelled an attack there.

Deploying militias to take care of business is how the Gaddfis roll, according to a rare, behind-the-scenes look at two of Muammar's sons feuding over a Coca Cola company that moved into Libya in 2005.

Want to know:

South Sudan survived decades of fighting. And, amazingly, its wildlife did too. 1.3 million antelope continue to follow a circuit across the landscape. Experts say the movement is on a par with Tanzania's famed Serengeti wildlife migration and the government hopes tourists will agree.

Dull but important:

Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq, appointed in Mubarak's final days, resigned Thursday as pro-democracy activists demanded a purge of the old guard. Former Transport Minister Essam Sharaf, who supported the revolution, was picked to appoint a new government.

Yemen's president Ali Abdullah Saleh has agreed to a plan that would ease his exit from power by the end of the year.

Just because:

Curious George, our adorable storybook friend, had many big adventures - for instance, having to go to the hospital after swallowing a puzzle piece - but none so dramatic as those of his German Jewish creators.

Thousands of Tunisians arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa in February without so much as 80 cents for an espresso. Luckily, their new Italian friends feel their pain. They have have revived an old Neapolitan tradition: Customers who are feeling festive can pay for an extra coffee, called a caffe sospeso, to be left "hanging" for someone who can't afford it. It's the least they could do.

Wacky:

China's government planners, on a mission to make the country happy over the next five years, have their work cut out for them. According to a survey, only 6 percent of the country's citizens consider themselves happy, compared with 82 percent of Danish people.
