RedEaredSlider writes "A large cache of enriched nuclear fuel some 13
metric tons was stored in a nuclear reactor in the port city of Aktau,
on the Caspian seacoast. The reactor was a Soviet-era fast breeder
reactor, designed to make nuclear fuel for both weapons and power plants.
The reactor, which started operations in 1973, also provided 135
megawatts of electricity, 9 million gallons of water per day and steam
for hot water and heating for Aktau. It was shut down by the Kazakh
government in 1999. Getting the material out of a seaport was one way to
make it harder to steal, [Dave Barber of Sandia Labs] said. So the US and
Kazakh governments embarked on a project to [0]move it to a guarded and
remote facility in the interior."

deleting Facebook accounts in an effort to prevent anti-government
protests from escalating as they did in Egypt. Is it likely that they are

One thing is for sure: Qt remains to play an important role in Nokia.
We'll have more Qt-related posts coming this week during Mobile World

Association received 157 reports of alleged corporate end user software
piracy. Of the 157 reports, 42 (or 27%) were judged sufficiently reliable
to pursue. Of these, [0]16 qualified for rewards totaling $57,500. The
profile of sources reporting software piracy indicates that most reports
come from former IT staff these are the people who typically witness
the illegal use of software. 75% of all reports come from IT staff or
managers, 11% from the company's senior management and 4% from outside
consultants. More than 59% of those reporting are no longer employed by
the target company. In fact, many of SIIA's sources report that their
primary reason for leaving the target company was the company's lack of
ethical behavior related to software compliance."

siddesu writes "After 30 years of being around computers, I have, like
everyone else, amassed a huge amount of files in huge amount of formats
about a huge amount of topics. And it isn't only me the family has now
a ton of data that they want managed and easily accessible. Keeping all
that information in order has always been a pain, but it has gone harder
as the storage has increased and people and files and sizes have
multiplied. What do you folks use to keep your odd terabyte of document,
picture, video and code files organized that is, relatively uniformly
tagged, versioned, searchable and ultimately findable, without 50
duplicates over your 50 devices and without typing arcane commands in a
terminal window? I found this [0]discussion from 2003 and this

in 2011? And how satisfied is your extended family with the solution you
have unleashed upon them?"

CWmike writes "It's hard to remember now, but there was a time when
Finland was at the center of the cell phone universe. No more. Nokia is
being killed by complexity. Along comes Microsoft with Windows Phone 7,
delivering more complexity. [0]My view is that Microsoft doesn't matter,
writes Mike Elgan. Although Windows Phone 7 is a way better operating
system than Symbian, Nokia's problem isn't Symbian, and the solution
isn't Windows Phone 7. Nokia's problem is that it follows the losing
strategies of the other losers in the market, and rejects the only two
known winning strategies. There are way too many Nokia phones. This
causes either [1]choice paralysis, sending buyers screaming to Apple for
relief, or buyer's remorse. Nokia should take the [2]advice Steve Jobs
gave to Nike CEO Mark Parker: 'Just get rid of the crappy stuff and focus
on the good stuff.'" And maybe Nokia isn't toast at all: reader
high_rolla points out an interesting bit of speculation that the
Nokia-Microsoft pact is part of a grand plan "to become the exclusive
[3]manufacturer of hardware for MS phones and tablets."
