Managing long floats in Fair Isle knitting
February 7, 2011

My UPS gal surprised me again the other day with several new Interweave books full of wonderful, inventive projects. The project that strikes my fancy for today's post is from Vintage Modern Knits by Courtney Kelley and Kate Gagnon Osborn. The project is a scarf called the Ajiro Scarf. Read more...

Pam Allen: Knitting Icon
February 9, 2011

Pam Allen's Flutter Sleeve Cardigan has been on my wish list since it debuted in spring 2008 in Interweave Knits. I love the waistline, and the sleeves are knitted as part of the body—no separate pieces to knit. Help! I dropped a stitch at the end of a row!
February 11, 2011

I've been working on my knit-along project (the Seaweed Cardigan), and last week I had a disaster of epic proportions: My needle slid out of the first stitch and it dropped down several rows. Always a Party with Knitscene

Last Friday, I got together with Michele Riggs of DownTown Knits in Apex, North Carolina, to host a release party for the new issue of Knitscene. I was a little shocked when I walked in at 6:30 and the shop was already packed. I couldn't even find Michele in the yarny melee!  Read more...

Stitch Study: Seed Stitch

Seed stitch, or as Europeans call it "moss stitch," has many variations that make it extremely versatile, like double seed stitch. Seed stitch is great for scarves and blankets, things that are visible from both sides. If you've never tried seed stitch, try it this weekend and discover the endless possibilities it brings. Below are our favorite seed stitch resources, to help you in your own stitch study!
