THEATER | Miracle on Christmas Lake at Yellow Tree Theatre: Osse-awesome! by Bev Wolfe, TC Daily Planet • When Osseo's Yellow Tree Theatre opened in 2008, a last-minute loss of rights to a different holiday play resulted in co-founder Jessica Lind writing the last-minute holiday play Miracle on Christmas Lake. The production is now in it's third year, and from the way the packed house enjoyed the latest performance of Miracle, it's likely to remain a holiday staple.

DANCE | Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker lives up to its name by Betsy Gabler, TC Daily Planet • If you blinked, you missed the opportunity to see a two-night-only performance of a Christmas classic, The Great Russian Nutcracker. Like a melting snowflake, the Moscow Ballet moves in and out of towns throughout the United States during December to perform this very traditional interpretation.

OUTSIDE THE WALLS | Revisiting Woodstock, 1969 by Dick Bernard • I was 29 when Woodstock happened, and while certainly in the age range, I was about as far from the stereotyped Woodstock lifestyle as I was from it geographically - Minnesota to New York. It was a different world.

JOHNNY NORTHSIDE | Street vendor license for Sandy's, home of the Knockout Dog by John Hoff • Sandy's, a food stand which often sets up shop in front of Cub Foods in North Minneapolis, has reportedly been granted a street vendor license by the City of Minneapolis and -- at some time in the foreseeable but more temperate future -- will be setting up shop in the vicinity of the Gay Nineties Bar in the Warehouse District.

THE 58TH YEAR | Yesterday was a spirit bead for me by Steve Date • Many Native American cultures, including my mother's Anishinabe (Ojibwe) heritage, include a concept called the "spirit bead." Women would intentionally string a wrong-colored bead into an otherwise perfect pattern as an act of humility - to demonstrate their belief that only God can create something that is perfect.

BLOG OF THE MODERATE LEFT | Papa do preach by Jeff Fecke • As you know, I've written many times about purity balls, and how decidedly creepy they are. There's just something horribly wrong about asking your daughter to pledge her virginity to you until she marries someone. It's creepy, and incestuous, and completely destructive to the idea that women are actual people with actual feelings about the world.

LOON COMMONS | Racist ag is not sustainable ag by Brian DeVore • A decade ago, farmer-members of LSP's Federal Farm Policy Committee participated with members of the National Black Farmers Association in a march on the USDA's headquarters in Washington.

WORLD VIEWS | A pub in São Paulo?! by Amanda Noventa • Last night I went to a pub in São Paulo. Pretty normal, right? No. Pubs don't belong to Brazil. We go to a lot of bars (believe me) but they usually have a big path, with tables outside where you can just enjoy the nice tropical nights in Brazil.
