More Than a Dozen Gifts You Can Knit Before the Holidays!

Well, maybe it's not your absolute last chance—there are 25 days until Christmas, and a few years ago I knit a garter stitch scarf for someone on December 23rd—but we're cutting it close!

I thought you might appreciate a few ideas for last-minute gifts; there's time to knit any one of these projects!

Do you have a special little one in your life? The two fun knits at left are sure to please!

I love the Fiesta Tea Set (far left)! The colors evoke the classic dinnerware perfectly, and they're surprisingly easy to knit—each piece starts with a circle and builds from there.

And the Miniature Cowichan Cardigan (near left)? Precious. I have a collection of little bears in sweaters and whenever I have little girl guests, they play with the bears for hours. I may just have to make a new sweater for one of my own little bears.

Mitts are a fantastic choice for last-minute knitting. They're fast and the design options are endless.

Cornflower Mitts
(far left) and Rib and Cable Mitts (near left) are two easy, quick patterns that'll meet your gift-giving needs.

And these are good for men or women—just change the color to please the recipient! Mitts also work for warm and cold climates alike. Slip them on inside in colder areas and keep them in your car, handbag, or pockets in warmer climates

Hats are wonderful gifts that are great for us knitters, too. I can whip up a hat in a few days knitting time, and with the beautiful patterns at left, so can you!

The Zigzag Beanie (far left) is just beautiful, and knit up in a kid mohair, it's soft and warm, too. The Zigzag is a feminine hat that'll please any gal on your list.

And now, my favorite. With its snowflake section, the Felicity Hat (above left) is a striking winter topper. The hat is made up of a Fair Isle strip and three short-row wedges—clever and fun!

This hat would work equally well for men or women—how about the Felicity and Frank Hats?

Nothing like the last minute!

Cheers,

P.S. Keep reading for even more gift ideas from Interweave!
