Here's what  board member Dennis Schapiro says: "The Daily Planet is a real forum for multi-cultural exchange. It provides insight into what the Twin Cities needs to be." Minneapolis Community and Technical College joins top universities in education reform project

MINNESOTA PROGRESSIVE PROJECT | It's not a spending problem, it's a revenue problem by Joe Bodell • Defense, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid. Lather, rinse, repeat. Why talk about such a small number of federal programs? Because those programs, when lumped together, take up about three-quarters of the federal budget. Everything else -- the Department of Education, federal earmarks, transportation funding, poverty reduction, even farm subsidies -- fits into the other quarter.

OUTSIDE THE WALLS | Muslims of the Midwest: From the 1880s to 2010/node/41141 by Dick Bernard • Back on September 5, 2010, I posted "A Close Encounter With a Mosque," remembering a friendship in the 8th grade in Ross, North Dakota in 1953-54. In the mysterious ways such things work, someone saw the blog post, liked it, and on November 13, 2010, I found myself on stage at the annual celebration and awards banquet of the Islamic Resource Group of Minnesota (IRG), and my blog post printed in their program booklet.

THINK FORWARD | Exporting privatization by Andrew Ranallo • When Obama visited India last week, saying India "has already emerged" as a power in Asia and globally, his compliments were loaded.
